Kaustav Banerjee, one of the world’s leading researchers of nanoelectronics, is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Nanoelectronics Research Lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA).

His current research is focused on the physics, technology and applications of lowdimensional materials such as graphene and other 2D materials for nextgeneration green electronics, photonics and bioelectronics. Initially trained as a physicist, he graduated from UC Berkeley with a PhD in electrical engineering in 1999.

Professor Banerjee is a Fellow of IEEE and the American Physical Society. His ideas and innovations have been recognized with numerous awards and honors including the prestigious Bessel Prize in 2011 from the Humboldt Foundation, a JSPS Invitation Fellowship in 2013 from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and the IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award in 2015.


At TU Dresden he visited the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, which is held by Prof. Cuniberti.
