Memory in silicon.
Notes on work in the semiconductor industry

Dec. 3, 2004, 10:15 a.m.

The efficient production of computer memory is a driving force in the development of new semiconductor technologies.
The presentation will give an overview of my experiences working in the memory products division of Infineon Technologies AG. I will explain the tasks in the manufacturing process and which skills of my physics studies and my PhD thesis are needed most in this field.
I start with the basic principle of a dynamic random access memory, describe the basic steps in product development and address the challenges for production yield. Special focus is on the simulation of memory chips and the modeling standards in this technology.
