Why the semiconductor industry (still) needs physicists
Michael Langenbuch

Dec. 9, 2005, 1:15 p.m.

The presentation will give an overview of my experiences working in the memory products division of Infineon Technologies AG.
The semiconductor industry is now starting to get a mature industry and i will try to give an flavor which segments evolved and in which areas physicists are contributing.
As coming from the memory devision i will then focus on the memory segment and explain the basic principle of memory cells and the established architectures. This includes the concept of trench and stacked dynamic memory cell, the floating gate and the oxinitride memory cell.
