Collisional interactions involving three bodies have been shown both theoretically and experimentally to demonstrate a number of intriguing phenomena, such as the Efimov effect. This colloquium will concentrate on some recent theoretical work concerning the scattering properties of four-body systems, with examples drawn from electron-molecule collisions and from ultracold fermi gases.
