In the shadow of the carbon hype, there was also a strong increase in general research on novel boron nanomaterials. I will briefly review our current knowledge about various types of boron nanowires, boron nanotubes and boron sheets, and discuss some combinations with their carbon sisters. Finally I will sketch future nanotechnological and medical applications of boron(-carbon) nanomaterials.
