In this alumnus’ talk I would like to tell you how a physicist like me ended up at McKinsey & Company and what kind of work I’m doing. After spending 11 years at TU Dresden, of which I spend 6 great years at this chair, I decided to move into the Data Science space and joined the consulting world shortly after. Let me recap my past three years and give you a glimpse into my new role and how it compares to my background in academia.

Brief CV

Thomas is an alumni of this chair from 2019, doing his PhD in the field of “Computational Modeling of Molecular Electronics” after studying Physics at TU Dresden. After finishing his thesis, he became a Data Science Fellow at Faculty in London, where he also worked as a Data Scientist at easyJet UK. In 2019 he joined McKinsey & Company to help companies in solving business problems with Data Science and Advanced Analytics.
